Get the Yard You’ve Always Wanted

Green Side Up mows, edges, weeds and feeds Richmond yards on a set weekly schedule from late March through early November. Our crews set mowing heights and fertilizer timing for tall fescue on Piedmont clay, the soil under most lawns in Richmond, Glen Allen, Midlothian and Henrico. Williamsburg and James City County homes get the same program from our Williamsburg team.

We had an erosion problem with our yard and spoke to several landscaping companies about a solution. Green Side Up came up with a very creative solution and we are thrilled with the results. They were courteous and very professional. I would recommend them to anyone.

Exceptional customer service and work. They take care of everything -- mowing, edging, mulch, leaf removal, aerating and overseeding. I get a lot of compliments from neighbors on my yard. They also coordinate with Virginia Green to make sure weed control and fertilizer don't conflict with the work GSU is doing that week. I really like having my weekends free. Definitely worth it.

Frequently
Asked Questions

faq-section
Do you offer different levels of maintenance?

Yes. The Total Maintenance Package covers weekly mowing plus bed care. The Garden Care Package covers bed weeding, edging, mulch and pre-emergent for properties that don’t need mowing. Both packages, with prices, are on our pricing page.

What services do you perform throughout the year by month?

Winter brings leaf cleanup and pruning, with mulching from February into May. Mowing starts in late March, spring pruning lasts from mid-April through June, and summer pruning and a second pre-emergent follow in July and August. Aeration, overseeding and fall pruning happen in September and October. Mowing ends in early November, and leaf cleanup continues through December.

Do Richmond lawns need fall aeration and overseeding?

Most do. Tall fescue on compacted Piedmont clay thins out over a hot summer. Aerating and overseeding in September or October gives new seed cool weather to root before winter.

How does GSU know how I want my place maintained?

Tell your point of contact or email maintenance@gsulandscaping.com. We log each note in our job software, and it reminds the crew on every visit.

What day will I be serviced, and will I have the same crew every time?

Commercial properties usually get service early in the week and homes nearer the weekend, though routes can shift. We keep the same two-person team and leader on your property whenever possible and add help during leaf season.

How soon can you get started on my property maintenance?

Usually within 5 business days, depending on the season, weather and our current schedule.
