Exceptional customer service and work. They take care of everything -- mowing, edging, mulch, leaf removal, aerating and overseeding. I get a lot of compliments from neighbors on my yard. They also coordinate with Virginia Green to make sure weed control and fertilizer don't conflict with the work GSU is doing that week.

Can you install sod around patios, pools, or walkways?

Absolutely. We frequently install sod to finish off hardscape projects and restore grass around newly added features.

When is the best time to install sod in Virginia?

Sod can be installed spring through fall, but we typically recommend late spring or early fall for the best rooting conditions.

Can I walk on the new sod right away?

You’ll want to limit foot traffic for the first few weeks. Once it’s well-rooted, your lawn will be ready for normal use.

How long does it take for sod to root?

Sod typically takes 2–3 weeks to begin establishing roots, and about a month to fully root. We’ll give you watering and care guidelines to help it thrive during this time.

Do I need to prep my lawn before sod installation?

We handle all prep work, including grading, soil amendments, and removal of old grass if needed. If there’s anything you’d like to do in advance, we’ll let you know during your consultation.

What kind of sod do you use?

We select sod based on your property’s sunlight, drainage, and soil composition. Because we’re local, we only use turf varieties that perform well in Virginia’s climate.
