The Science Behind the Design

Design is half art, half horticulture, and our Richmond designers are trained in both. Central Virginia sits in the turfgrass transition zone on heavy Piedmont clay, so plant choice and drainage make or break a landscape here. We select plants suited to our zone-7 summers and clay soil, grade and route water away from the house and low spots, and lay out irrigation that keeps everything healthy without wasting water. The result looks good the first season and holds up for years.

When GSU handles your installation, the same team that understands the design puts it in the ground. Our crews and craftsmen build patios, walkways, retaining walls, planting beds, and lawns to last, with the grading and drainage set right the first time. How much does landscape design cost in Richmond, VA?

Our 2D designs start at $1,000 for a front or rear yard and $1,500 for the whole property, with a pool concept adding $500. 3D designs and video walkthroughs are available for more, and detailed drawings beyond the standard scope are billed at $150 per design hour.
