About Jim
Jim Gallagher studied Turf Maintenance at Virginia Tech. His time in the field started before college, when he helped build the Woods Course at Kingsmill. After Virginia Tech he worked at Two Rivers Club and then became Head Golf Course Superintendent at Mattaponi Springs Golf Club, where he oversaw construction of the course along with its drainage and irrigation systems. He went on to serve as Vice-President of a residential and commercial landscaping company that grew past 40 employees.
That path gave Jim deep footing in both turf and the systems that sit under a healthy landscape. About a year after Green Side Up started, he helped extend the company into Williamsburg, the market he still leads today. On the leadership team, his attention to detail and management background help hold the company to a high standard.
What Jim Focuses On
Jim leads sales and design consultations across the Williamsburg market, from Williamsburg proper to Toano and James City County. His superintendent years, which included course construction, drainage, and irrigation work, give him a strong read on what goes in below the surface and how a landscape will hold up over time, not only how it looks on install day. As an owner on the leadership team, he stays close to how Williamsburg projects are scoped and delivered.
